Distinguish a motif from an application plan
A reference image can suggest a direction but does not define an application plan. The plan also locates the design, establishes its scale and identifies its boundaries. Türkiye’nin Ustaları describes design preparation and brush application as distinct roles and stages in kalem işi. Responsibilities and approval points can therefore be discussed at the start of a project.
Review the layout against the architecture
Mark domes, arches, ceilings and window surrounds so the beginning and end of each decorated area are clear. How a border turns a corner or a circular composition relates to its centre belongs to the design discussion. Current drawings and overall photographs give reference motifs a spatial context. Do not confuse sketch dimensions with application dimensions.
Treat transfer as a method choice
Türkiye’nin Ustaları describes perforated paper outlines transferred with powder among traditional practices. This is not a compulsory method for every project. Surface, scale, materials and the character of the work affect the appropriate approach. This article explains the stages rather than supplying a site instruction. Transfer and painting need to be planned with the approved design and substrate assessment.
Define review and revision points
A proposed sequence may include layout approval, a sample where required, review of an initial application area and final inspection. The scope of these checks should be agreed, not assumed. A revision request should identify the relevant drawing or area. When colour, motif or scope changes, the team needs the complete current approval rather than a disconnected sequence of messages.
Quick project checklist
- Are the current drawings and application areas identified?
- Are scale and boundaries discussed?
- Is responsibility for design and sample approval clear?
- Does the application team have the current revision?
